Solving Credit and Debit Card Problems

You have a right to know when and how Megabitz will ask you for credit and debit card information. If your card is ever declined, here is what you can do to avoid interruptions in your Megabitz Usenet service.

If you need to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXlink update your credit card information on your Megabitz account, please log in to the Member Login Area and select the option to update credit card.

Providing Megabitz with credit or debit card information

The following are the only situations when Megabitz will ask you for your credit or debit card information.

  • When you become a member, your credit or debit card will need to be verified.
  • When you update your credit card details, your credit or debit card will need to be verified.
  • When you contact billing by e-mail, you may be asked to verify the last four digits of your credit card number.
  • When you contact billing by phone or fax, you may be asked to verify your credit or debit card.

Your credit or debit card will remain on file, linked to your account, for any future payment of automatic monthly/quarterly/yearly fees, block account refill fees, or any other fees.

If you have a card on file with your account and it expires, you will receive an email from Megabitz asking you to update your card information. If you fail to update the card on file, Megabitz may be unable to bill your card, and your account may be suspended until you update the card.

If your credit or debit card is declined

If your credit or debit card is declined during verification, or when making payment, contact the card issuer to check the following:

  • Determine if your card is in good standing. Some card companies will automatically flag cards with "suspicious" activity, such as Internet merchant transactions.
  • Make sure that you have sufficient credit or funds available to cover the fee for your membership plan. To comply with VISA and MasterCard guidelines for Internet merchants, Megabitz preauthorizes this amount as part of the verification process.
  • If your card is new, make sure your card has been activated.
  • Verify that the billing address your bank has on file for you is identical to the one you are entering. The address you provide to Megabitz will be compared by your card company to the one they have on file. If you have recently changed your address, for example, the bank may still have the old address registered for the card.
  • Inquire regarding denied transactions from "Megabitz, LLC". Your card issuer should be able to see the transaction attempts and provide information on how to resolve the issue.

Your card company is responsible for verifying your address. Megabitz will provide the address you give to your card company as part of the preauthorization. Megabitz is not provided with a copy of the information your card company has on file, and cannot correct "obvious" errors.

Please be aware that many pre-paid or gift cards will fail verification for a variety of reasons. Call the card service number on the back of the card, and let the representative know that you need to pass an "AVS" verification. In most cases, they will be able to provide you with the appropriate street address to use. Please contact Megabitz if you need further assistance.

If problems persist, you may pay for your Megabitz account by PayPal, check, or money order.
